"In the last quarter century, there has not been a solitary day where I, personally, have failed to follow exactly the same techniques as in The Back Saver System, for myself."

Bringing a totally unique skill set to safety training: Peter has over 27 years of direct patient care experience. There is simply no other safety/healthcare instructor with this credential. Peter Guske originally founded, owned and operated a specialized fitness and bodybuilding gym in Jackson, Michigan in the mid 1980s. While a competing bodybuilder, he sustained a serious low back injury. This injury, and his natural interest in biomechanics, led him to his degree in physical therapy from Wayne State University, Detroit Michigan.
His personal experience with back pain and spinal rehabilitation provided the impetus for him to investigate and personally experience the myriad of ineffective and sometimes injurious treatment techniques available. He subsequently developed the first rehabilitation protocols for MedX Corporation (formerly Nautilus Sports Medical Industries) while working for the company in Los Angeles, California.
Specializing in spinal rehabilitation, he then opened his own physical therapy practice in East Central Florida. After expanding the practice and constructing the first high-tech smart building in the area, he sold the clinical practice. He has since transitioned his career into back injury prevention/self-treatment training, knee pain reduction, fatigue/diabetes reduction, sensible weight loss and Heart Disease/Hi-Cholesterol/Hypertension reduction for employers in all work settings.

"From very early in my career, all the way to the training and consulting that I currently perform, I have continued to de-emphasize some well-accepted and established procedures. I have even taken what some in my profession consider to be extreme views with regard to certain areas of rehabilitation and healthcare. My direct personal experience has been that many accepted methods are too often ineffective and sometimes harmful. We cannot progress if we simply repeat procedures which have become established..."
"My philosophy is to provide state-of-the-art care, while never losing sight of the traditional values of individualized attention, detailed symptom analysis and self-treatment".

Our Goal
We want to make every company a leading-edge, healthy and injury free company–an employer that provides the newest information and tools to its employees to empower them to simply, inexpensively, and with efficient use of time and space, stay as pain-free, energetic, productive, safe, healthy and strong, on a long-term basis, as genetically possible.
How do we plan to accomplish this lofty goal? We do not believe it requires extensive employer retooling, massive design changes in working equipment, expensive gym equipment, extra space or even dramatically changing the way most employees go about performing their day to day tasks. Instead it requires a new and different type of training. Training that is based not on old, outdated myths concerning the causes of the most common and most expensive injuries and health issues, but rather new, cutting-edge training based on advanced, rational, scientific, up-to-date reasoning with sound basic time-tested premises.
My Basic Premise
I am sometimes asked, “Does training work?” Does it produce a real return on investment? Does the dispensing of information cause a change in behavior? The answer to the first two questions is: Not Always. This is due to the inherent difficulty in attempting to measure the effectiveness of any type of "prevention training", because you are attempting to accurately measure "something that didn't happen".
The answer to the last question is much less complicated: No. The mere providing of information in a training course of any kind, no matter how accurate and important that information may be, will not, by itself produce a change in behavior. If you feel frustrated because your training is not producing a concomitant change in behavior, it may be time to be brutally honest with yourself. Ask yourself this question: “Have you changed your behavior? I asked myself this question concerning issues I was writing about several years ago and it stopped me dead in my tracks. The truth was, I had not changed my behavior, at least not enough for me to be able to honestly teach and write about the subject. As a result, I put the subject matter and my writings aside and will return to it after I have changed my behavior to a high enough degree to feel like I am qualified to teach the subject matter.
But with regard to the The Back Saver System, in the last quarter century, there has not been a solitary day where I, personally, have failed to follow exactly the same techniques myself. The exact same techniques that I teach in The Back Saver System course. Now that, represents a definite change in behavior.
It Has A Certain Ring To It
In the area of teaching/training, especially in healthcare, I am continually astonished by the large number of instructors who themselves do not adhere even to the basic concepts about which they are training others. Plainly stated: they do not do what they tell others to do.
I do not believe anyone can, effectively, on a long-term basis, impart onto another person any skills or habits unless the instructor himself implements those skills and adheres with fanatical consistency to practicing those habits himself. It’s not just a matter of “practicing what you preach”. Rather, it is an expression of the reality that no one can truly and effectively impart onto others, knowledge and skills that they do not themselves possess in abundance and practice very consistently. Sincerity is the key to effective teaching, because students can sense, either consciously or subconsciously, lack of sincerity and hypocrisy. And it will impede the learning process. Students can also sense sincerity and truth. The truth has a certain ring to it.
